Tell Your Representative: Engage Educators in Policymaking!

On Teacher Appreciation Day 2025, Connecticut Congresswoman and 2016 National Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes will introduce a Teacher Appreciation Week Resolution calling on federal, state, and local leaders to engage teachers as active participants in education policymaking, ensuring the policies that impact classrooms reflect teacher voice and expertise.

The resolution also highlights the stark gap between what teachers want and the actions of the Trump Administration in its first 100 days, making clear that the current federal policy landscape does not reflect teacher voice or expertise. In fact, E4E’s recent nationally representative survey of 1,000 teachers reveals that between 70% and 92% oppose each of the Trump Administration’s education priorities.

Email your Representative today and demand that they co-sponsor Congresswoman Hayes’ Teacher Appreciation Week Resolution, thus making clear that they will do their part to more authentically engage teachers in education policymaking and encourage other lawmakers to do the same!
