In fact, E4E’s recent nationally representative survey of 1,000 teachers reveals that between 70% and 92% oppose each of the Trump Administration’s education priorities.

I am writing as an educator and constituent to share survey data showing teachers disagree with President Trump’s education actions and to ask that you support Congresswoman Hayes’ Teacher Appreciation Week Resolution in order to do your part to ensure the federal government more authentically engages teachers.

Educators for Excellence’s recent nationally representative survey of 1,000 teachers reveals that teachers across political ideologies, regions, and races disagree with President Trump’s education actions. For example, 84% oppose eliminating protections against discrimination for LGBTQ+ students, and 88% oppose barring culturally relevant materials from classrooms.

Congresswoman Jahana Hayes will introduce a resolution on May 6 to highlight this stark gap between what teachers want and the Trump Administration’s actions and to call on federal, state, and local leaders to engage teachers as active participants in education policymaking.

All policymakers must follow Congresswoman Hayes’ lead to ensure the policies that impact classrooms reflect teacher voice and expertise.
