Demand Senators Vote NO on the "Big, Beautiful Bill"

In May, the House narrowly passed its budget reconciliation bill in the middle of the night. Put simply, this legislation is devastating for students. 

It includes a private school voucher scheme that diverts federal funding ($20 billion over four years) from public school students to tax benefits and scholarships that’ll primarily benefit the wealthy. Only 16% of educators support using federal funds in this way.

And that’s not all. The bill proposes significant cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Half of all students rely on Medicaid for health insurance. The program also funds essential school staff like nurses, counselors, and mental health professionals. The historic slashing of SNAP would make it harder for millions of children to qualify for the program and free school meals, leaving even more students food insecure.
