NYC Solves: Demand Ongoing Professional Learning
In response to stark inequities in math achievement across New York City, city leadership responded boldly with NYC Solves – building on the success of high-quality instructional materials in other districts.
Over the next several years, middle schools and high schools across the city will shift to a high-quality math curriculum, backed by a $34 million investment. This is a massive shift that NYC educators called for.
However, while this investment in NYC Solves is encouraging, we must ensure this transition is implemented with high-quality, ongoing professional learning every step of the way.
One-off or static professional learning is insufficient in a system as large and diverse as New York City. The complexities of teaching, along with the varying needs of students, requires educators to continually adapt their practices and be up to date with the latest research.
By ensuring ongoing, high-quality professional learning plays a significant role in the initiative’s rollout, we can ensure NYC Solves delivers on its original aim: to improve outcomes for all students.
So join us, and call on NYC Public Schools to implement NYC Solves with high-quality, ongoing professional learning.
