Tell NYCPS: Create NYC Solves Interventions for Diverse Learners
NYCPS needs to create and provide an approved list of NYC Solves interventions for diverse learners.
Educators have spoken through surveys, focus groups, and direct conversations. Their message is clear: they need more support to meet the needs of diverse learners in NYC Solves.
Right now, only 43% of Solves teachers feel confident teaching students below grade level, and just 26% feel confident supporting English Language Learners (ELLs). That’s not enough.
The city has already taken this step for reading, creating a list of at least nine approved intervention programs for struggling readers. But no such list exists for math—despite math being a proven gateway to advanced coursework, graduation, college, and higher earnings. Without action, students risk falling further behind and missing out on hundreds of billions in future earnings.
NYCPS must act now. Demand leaders create and share an approved list of NYC Solves interventions for diverse learners—just as you did for reading—so educators have the tools they need to help every student succeed.
